Bob E. Sims, Senior Legal Director
Bob retired from the partnership at Latham & Watkins in June 2020. During his 18 years at Latham, Bob was a member of the firm’s Litigation Department focused on white collar criminal defense and investigations, served on a number of firm management committees, and received the Robert M. Dell Prize for Extraordinary Pro Bono Service. Bob’s pro bono work at Latham included cases involving bail reform, police misconduct, immigration, human trafficking, veterans benefits, child welfare and domestic violence.
Bob is an experienced trial lawyer having tried cases in federal and state courts across the country. Bob served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the District of Maryland from 1989-1994. During the Clinton administration, Bob served as Senior Adviser in the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs in Washington, DC.
Bob graduated from Harvard University in 1981 and received his JD from Columbia University Law School in 1984.
